How to maintain your laundry equipment
Good and regular maintenance is one of the keys to extending the life of your professional washers and dryers. Select your laundry equipment to view basic care tips from the Speed Queen experts.
- After the wash cycle, let the drum dry: leave the washer lid or loading door open.
- Check your washer’s filter screens once a year. Clean and replace if necessary.
- Check the pipes in your installation every month for any visible signs of wear or deterioration (cracks, blisters, etc.). Replace hoses immediately if they show any of these signs, or at least every five years as part of your routine maintenance schedule.
- Have an authorized technician clean the tumbler arm thoroughly on a yearly basis.
- Remove any lint from the lint compartment and screen at least once a day to ensure good air circulation and to avoid the risk of overheating.
- Check daily for foreign objects in the cylinder that could damage clothing and equipment.
- Remove lint and debris from inside the exhaust duct on a monthly basis to maintain airflow and prevent the risk of overheating.
- Leave the washer’s loading door open for extended periods of non-use to allow the drum to dry.
- Check the filter screens on an annual basis, clean and replace them if necessary.
- Check all pipes monthly for any visible signs of deterioration (cracks, blisters) or material wear. Replace immediately if any of the hoses show these signs.
- Clean the lint filter before each drying cycle. Wash it if needed.
- Remove the lint filter every year to vacuum the duct which is located below.
- Inspect the exhaust duct annually for lint buildup and clean it if necessary.
- Inspect the outer weather frequently to make sure the dampers move freely and are not pressed or restricted.
- Have the tumbler arm thoroughly cleaned annually by an authorized technician.
- Clean the lint filter before each drying cycle. If necessary, wash the lint filter.
- Remove the lint filter every year to vacuum the duct below.
- Inspect the exhaust duck annually for any accumulated lint and clean it if necessary.
- Inspect the outer weather hood regularly to make sure the dampers move freely and are not pressed or restricted.
